What does it mean to rest well?

At Carpe Diem Beds, this question has guided us for over three decades. Our journey began on the Swedish West Coast, among sea-worn cliffs and fields of wild heather, with a vision to create not just better beds, but better conditions for sleep. Along the way, we’ve come to understand that true rest is about more than physical comfort. It’s about creating spaces that feel safe, supportive and personal: Spaces that hold us, body and mind.

Bedrooms as Sanctuaries is an exploration of the modern bedroom not only as a place to sleep but as a space for renewal, reflection and beauty. It is a journey into the art of stillness, into the deeply personal act of shaping a sanctuary that supports both rest and self-expression.

Designing the Bedroom as a Sanctuary

Fourteen creative contributors, including designers, architects, interior design professionals and creatives, have been invited to imagine their dream bedroom. The only stipulation being, each bedroom should have at its heart a bed chosen from the Carpe Diem Beds range. Beyond this, with complete creative autonomy, each participant approached the concept of a bedroom sanctuary from their own unique perspective; influenced by their personal routines and rituals, professional experiences and design philosophies.

All 14 contributors: Signe Hytte, Lars Wallin, Caroline Fleming, Thomas Sandell, Sandra Adrian Asplund, Peter Fehrentz, Elizabeth Choppin, Madeleine Asplund Klingsted, Knut Bendik Humlevik, Mie Juel, Alexandra Ogonowski, Felice Stahlie, Cate St Hill & Linda Lybecker Brødsgaard.

‘I come into the world of interior design rather untouched, without all the “do this or do that’s”. It’s just my vision and that made it very personal.’ – Lars Wallin
